Home > Real Estate Investors How much money and time you spent to start your Real Estate business? I was first licensed in 1989. I probably spent around $800 for the basics. I joined the local association, paid my dues and bought cards. That was it. I was still in college at the time. In 2000 when I jumped back into the business, it cost me about $1400 in all the setup stuff like NAR membership, local association dues, MLS access, MLS software and business cards. I also spent some cash on clothes with my branding on it (Rugby shirts, light coat, baseball cap, etc.). I also did regular monthly mailings to my farm at about $450 for each mailing.
I passed the sales person and brokers exams the first time I took them.
In 1989, I was in my first successful escrow after about 2 months.
I left and returned to the business in 2000 and literally had my first escrow on the day I got my license in the mail.
I moved to a new region in 2003 and had a escrow in 1 month.
My first 3 years in the business, I worked about 25 hours a week. Since 2000, it has been more like a 40+ work week. However, I have been on sabbatical for the last year and a half, so I have only been doing referral business. I do continue to keep up my website, do searches for clients, etc. and that takes up maybe 3 hours a week. I will be returning from sabbatical in July of this year and figure I will be putting in at least 40 a week. [ Search FAQ | Submit Question to This Category | Home ]
